Tour of Lavender Waves Farm

We will enjoy a private tour of Lavender Waves Farm, a locally owned, 14-acre lavender farm situated in South Kingstown. The Farm is home to 4,000 lavender plants of 10 varieties. We will each take home a bundle of dried lavender, and the opportunity to cut-our-own.

Join us for a very interesting presentation with Mary James of Saltwater Studio Art & Design. Mary will demonstrate her artistic process of using live seaweed to create unique artwork. She is a formally trained artist, living in Newport, RI. She has developed a whole product line of ceramics, fine art and even jewelry. She collects live seaweed from local beaches to create one of a kind, pressed art pieces.

Following our business meeting, members & ticketed attendees will enjoy Blithewold’s famous tea, followed by an inspiring presentation by the renowned John Tschirch. John is an award-winning Architectural Historian, who has toured many incredible gardens in both America and Europe. He will be speaking about his newest book, America’s Eden: Newport Landscapes Through the Ages.

Juniper Hill
​
Historic Juniper Hill Cemetery opened in the 1850s and is the final resting place for several famous Bristol residents including Colts and De Wolfes. It is a fine example of the mid-19th-century rural cemetery movement. With winding lanes and paths, historic headstones, and a host of beautiful trees, it is an ideal spot for a fall stroll and guided tour by Chris Fletcher, noted arborist and cemetery director.

​November 13, 2024 Origami Demonstration
Origami is the Japanese art of paper folding. Barbara Sousa will walk us through the steps to create beautiful Christmas ornaments using this ancient art. This will be a hands-on workshop. All materials will be supplied.

Annual Holiday Luncheon
​
Bring your favorite holiday side dish, appetizer, or dessert to share at our festive annual potluck get-together. The club will provide the main course and beverages.
This is a social event, without a designated program. As you enjoy visiting and wishing each other the happiest season’s greetings. A short business meeting will follow.

Seashell Designs
​
Melonie Massa, owner of Mermaids Baubles, turned a fascination with sea glass and seashells into unique designs. She has been exploring the art form since 2008 and updating it with a modern twist on Sailors Valentine Jewelry. She has developed techniques that give her "Mermaids Baubles" a gorgeous gloss and durable strength. Realistic shellflowers & rare treasures from the Sea are often tucked into her exquisitely detailed designs.
