“Heritage Museum and Gardens offers 100 spectacular acres of trees and shrubs, designed gardens, exquisite flowers, and sweeping lawns.” Join us on a field trip to tour the beautiful gardens of Heritage on Cape Cod. Visit their new Garden of the Senses and their Hydrangea Test Garden.

Tour of Roger Williams Botanical Garden

Roger Williams Botanical Center

Providence, RI

 

Roger Williams Botanical Garden features the largest Glasshouse in New England and is filled with a wide variety of spectacular plants and trees. Also featured is a rose maze and outdoor perennial garden. Explore the history of the park as well as cultural & environmental information about plants, their uses and their importance to the lives of humans. Adaptations to climate, habitat and environmental factors will be discussed.

Bristol Garden Club Annual Tea

 

Blithewold Mansion, Gardens & Arboretum

Bristol Garden Club members enjoyed a wonderful tea followed by an informative presentation on Dahlias, their propagation and care, given by Guest Speaker, Dan Christina, Blithewold's Director of Horticulture

Tour of North Farm Arboretum

Guides: Martha Butler and Mike Gormley

​

North Farm in Bristol includes Secret Gardens & Arboretum that only a few of the public have experienced. Join us for a guided tour of this lovely arboretum and learn more about their Champion & Native trees. Their garden space also features a formal garden, sunken garden and even a beautiful Asian garden. October is a beautiful time to enjoy the fall foliage in Bristol!

Herbal Tea Making Workshop with Connie Ganley

 

Who doesn’t love herbal tea in the crisp autumn days of New England? Connie Ganley, manager of Public Engagement at Blithewold, loves all things local.  She will lead us in making herbal teas for personal use and gifts.

 

Members will leave with 2 handmade herbal teas of their choosing as well as handouts to continue this journey at home.

Annual Holiday Luncheon

​

Members brought their favorite holiday side dish, appetizer, or dessert to share at our festive annual potluck get-together. The club will provide the main course and beverages. This is a social event, without a designated program, to enjoy visiting and wishing each other the happiest season’s greetings.

Rhode Island Tree Council

 

Guest Speaker, Craig Hotchkiss, RI Tree Council Community Project Coordinator, will give an informative presentation on the beautiful native trees of Rhode Island. He will also discuss best tree care & RI Champion Trees. 

​

“We implement programs and activities that educate the public on the benefits and values of trees. A networking and educational organization, we partner with other environmental groups, the RIDEM-Division of Forest Environment, and the United States Forest Service to help meet this environmental challenge.” - RI Tree Council

With Spring a few days away, it isn’t too early to start planning our out-door containers and window boxes. Distinguished florist and landscape designer, Julie Christina, will speak to the Club about designing flower boxes for our properties.

Wicked Tulips Field Trip

Join us and explore the amazing wonder of thousands of tulips in bloom! Wicked Tulip Farms is a small family run business that plants 100’s of thousands of tulip bulbs each fall. This experience features a “You pick” flower adventure you will not soon forget.  Be sure to bring appropriate footwear to walk the tulip fields as well as a camera….and a sense of adventure!

Tour of Lavender Waves Farm

 

Lavender Waves Farm

South Kingstown, RI

 

We will enjoy a private tour of Lavender Waves Farm, a locally owned, 14-acre lavender farm situated in South Kingstown. The Farm is home to 4,000 lavender plants of 10 varieties. We will each take home a bundle of dried lavender, and the opportunity to cut-our-own.
